Remember, I had mentioned in my earlier post that I would be visiting some Darjeeling Tea gardens and promised to share the photos. Well the photos will be updated soon, but for the time being, I just couldn’t resist posting this. I had stayed in Cochrane Place near Makaibari Tea Estates and was dazzled by the overall design of the hotel. Its all Darjeeling oriented focusing the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway etc. and specially Darjeeling tea – Most of the things Darjeeling is famous for or boasts about. There are no room numbers as “102″ but full names depicting something Indian or Darjeeling specific – my room had no number but was called “South Indian Railway”. The hanging holders that holds the light bulb was designed in the shape of a tea kettle. There are other numerous attachments to the hotel and is worth commenting. On the whole, the inside decor is very much like Mr. Rajah Banerjee’s (Makaibari Tea Estates’ owner) personal bungalow – antique and very British showing remnants of the British raj in India.
On one particular wall of my room, a framed hanging could be seen and on taking a closer look, it was some kind of a “Tea” Q & A. I read it and simply found it humorous and worth sharing here on this blog. Hope you will like it! Would like to credit the person who wrote this, but unfortunately, no such evidence could be found!
