“Le seigneur de Darjeeling” and Thanks to Tea Friend!

Yesterday, I had gone to the post office to settle my monthly bill payments and the post man delivering letters to my area caught hold of me. He informed me that a mail had come from Finland and has been delivered to my place. “Finland”, I knew it was a DVD from my friend Tomi. Thanks a ton Friend, I don’t know how to thank you – all I can do is add some extra tea when you order hehe!

Well, it appeared quite weird receiving a DVD concerning my very hometown, Darjeeling, from a foreign land, but the notion got settled when I read “Aloest Productions” (France) – “Le seigneur de Darjeeling” (The Lord of Darjeeling) – a coverage on Makaibari Tea Estates and the Tea Guru, my favorite, Mr. Rajah Banerjee.

It’s a beautiful creation from Aloest Productions and I heartily congratulate them for such a fine piece of work. They have marvelously touched different aspects of life in Darjeeling, which I believe are portrayed in the true sense. Mr. Banerjee’s phenomenal effort to revive nature, people, culture and agriculture is a commendable practice that all should imply – Where there is harmony, there is prosperity! Beautifully presented on the DVD and I feel lucky to have a copy – Thanks to Tomi again, without whom I would have never been aware of such a lovely creation.

While watching the DVD, I came across a few known faces with whom I have interacted before when I was in Makaibari. I had written a post with the title “An Exercise of Emotions with the Tea Guru – Mr. Rajah Banerjee” a long time ago and I had mentioned one name, “Dalle” – I was overwhelmed to see Dalle preparing tea. If you have seen this, then the man preparing the tea is Dalle. Actually “Dalle” is a nickname which Mr. Banerjee uses to call him. Dalle is one of Mr. Banerjee’s loyal staff working at Makaibari for decades. The whole duration made me nostalgic and it was such a good feeling. I only hope that all Darjeeling Tea gardens get owners like Mr. Banerjee who believes in equality and in striking a balance with mother nature.

The DVD is highly recommended if you are a Darjeeling Tea Lover. I googled and found Aloest Productions’ website where they sell this particular version of Mr. Banerjee and Makaibari. Here is the link if you are interested!

And once again thanks to Tomi for sending it across! Greatly appreciated!

Happy Tea Sipping!
